The OPTIMUST+1 is configured such that an IR beam passes through an optically transparent diamond cutting tool and delivered precisely at the tool-workpiece interface. This system is uniquely designed to preferentially heat and soften only the tool contact region via laser radiation. The diamond tool removes the now more ductile and less brittle material with significantly less cutting forces.
